Tahini Brownie with Dinosaur Sprinkles

It’s dinosaur brownie time!!! Aren't brownies every child's favorite and isn't this love for brownies passed on into adult life? Finally we have found a brownie recipe that meets all our standards! This brownie is soft, chocolaty, moist and hides a super cool secret ingredient that also makes the brownie healthier. However, from the name you probably already guessed what I am talking about…It’s tahini!!!! Honestly, I would never have thought of putting tahini in a brownie, but when I made a peanut butter brownie the other day, I thought, why wouldn't tahini work?! So we gave it a try and it quickly became one of the best brownie recipes we've ever tried! And aren't the dinosaurs cute;)

Tahini Brownie with Dinosaur Sprinkles Ingredients

  • Tahini - Tahini goes great with all the other ingredients in this brownie as it gives the brownie its moisture and slightly nutty flavor.

  • Cacao Powder - It's a brownie, after all, so you need cacao powder!

  • Flax Egg - You will most certainly find more than one egg in a typical brownie recipe to make the whole cake more gooey. So, to make it vegan we simply used flax eggs (If you're unfamiliar with this, read our post on making flax seed eggs).

  • Almond Flour - We use almond flour to create a fluffy and fine texture.

  • Dark Chocolate - You will only need to use dark chocolate for your frosting.

  • Almond Yogurt - We used the almond yogurt from Silk but you can use any vegan yogurt you prefer to make the frosting (no advertisement - just our own preference).

  • Dinosaur Sprinkles - Can you use other sprinkles?! For sure! But aren’t dinosaur sprinkles way cooler?! YEP ;)

  • How to make Chocolate Tahini - Check out our post on how to make chocolate tahini so you know what you need to do!

  • How to make Chocolate Frosting - We have another post on how to make this easy, delicious frosting!

  • Let Cool - Allow the brownie to cool for about 10 minutes before spreading the frosting on top.

  • Sprinkle Your Sprinkles - Right after you put the frosting on the brownie, you need to quickly sprinkle your sprinkles on the brownie to keep the frosting from drying out.

Ingredients

Easy - 2 mini loaf pans - 35 minutes
  • ½ cup Chocolate Tahini

  • 2 Flax Eggs

  • 2 tbsp Organic Cane Sugar

  • ⅓ cup Applesauce

  • 3 tbsp Cacao Powder

  • ⅓ cup Almond Flour

  • 1 tsp Baking Powder

  • ¼ cup Dark Chocolate, melted

  • 1 heaping tbsp Vegan Yogurt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare two small baking pans.

  2. Once you have measured out all the ingredients except for the dark chocolate and yogurt that will be used later for the frosting, mix them together in a medium bowl.

  3. Pour your batter into the greased baking pans and bake for 25 minutes.

  4. While the brownies are baking, prepare the frosting. Melt the dark chocolate and mix with the yogurt. Mixing these two ingredients together should thicken the texture.

  5. After baking, let the brownies cool for about 10 minutes. Then, gently loosen the sides and remove the cake from the pan.

  6. Glaze the brownies, sprinkle on some dinosaurs and serve!
