Cinnamon Swirl Mug Cake

This mug cake recipe is perfect for a quick, delicious breakfast. The batter is super fluffy, while the cinnamon flavor really has time to infuse. We like to enjoy these little cakes with another spoonful of almond milk and a drizzle of maple syrup—but you can add in any extras you like!

Cinnamon Swirl Mug Cake Ingredients

All the ingredients are super simple to make this the perfect home comfort breakfast to enjoy. The apple sauce creates a delicious texture, while the cashew butter adds a rich taste.

  • Oat Flour - Oat flour absorbent and light, which helps make these cakes bake as fluffy as they should.

  • Almond Milk - We like to use almond milk but any alternative works.

  • Cashew Butter - Cashew butter adds an enjoyable, smooth, creamy flavor to the batter, especially as an alternative to peanut butter.

  • Applesauce - We use applesauce to naturally sweeten the cake and give it extra moisture.

  • Baking Soda - This helps the batter to rise.

  • Almond Yogurt - Feel free to use every preferred yogurt.

  • Cinnamon & Maple syrup - These two ingredients create a simple but delicious syrup that adds up perfectly.

Cinnamon Swirl Mug Cake Tips

  • Mix - Do not over mix your cake batter! Mix until all the ingredients are combined. Mixing can cause your cake to get 'hard'.

  • Rise -The cake will rise in the microwave, but collapses immediately after taking it out.

  • Sweetness - If you want your cake sweet/sweeter, add a drop of maple syrup to the batter before microwaving.
