Banana Chocolate Ice Cream

This is the creamiest homemade ice cream ever! Although I'm not a big fan of bananas, this recipe won me over. It's got just the right amount of banana and chocolate flavor and besides, who doesn't want to make their own ice cream when it's getting hot outside?! This ice cream is the easiest and quickest snack you will ever make, so give it a try!

Banana Chocolate Ice Cream Ingredients

  • Frozen Bananas - We recommend using very ripe and spotty bananas for a very rich, sweet taste.

  • Dark Chocolate - As always, we use chocolate with a very high cocoa content.

  • Cacao Powder - Gives the ice cream a bitter and rich cocoa taste.

Banana Chocolate Ice Cream Tips

  • Frozen Bananas - Slice the bananas thinly rather than into large chunks, as blending smaller chunks is less difficult.

  • Blending - To make blending easier, let the banana pieces thaw for a few minutes. Plus, we always use our Vitamix when it comes to turning frozen bananas into a smooth, creamy substance. However, if you don't have a high speed blender, use a food processor.

  • Smooth Texture - Pour the ice cream into a loaf pan and place in the freezer for a few hours so it has more of a scoopable ice cream texture.

  • Topping - Top the ice cream with cacao nibs, additional melted chocolate and bananas.

Ingredients

Easy - 4 servings - 15 minutes (plus all the freezing time)
  • 7 Frozen Bananas, sliced

  • 4 tbsp Cacao Powder

  • ¼ cup Dark Chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Peel and thinly slice the bananas to make it easier for the blender. Then spread the pieces out on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze until firm.

  2. Place the frozen bananas in a high speed blender and puree (if available; use a plunger to press down on the bananas), then add the cocoa powder and melted dark chocolate and puree until creamy and smooth.

  3. Now, once the ice cream is smooth and free of lumps, pour into a loaf pan to create a good scoopable ice cream texture. Place the filled loaf pan in the freezer for a few hours.

  4. Serve with an ice cream scoop, and if the ice cream is too firm let it thaw for about 15 minutes to soften it.

  5. Garnish your ice cream portion and enjoy!
