Apple Cake Tips
Apples - It can vary how many apples you should use depending on their size and how much filling you actually want. Also, you can choose whether you want them peeled or not, but we would recommend peeling as you will end up with a more smooth and fine bite.
Hazelnuts - You can swap them with another nut, like almonds, but it will then taste completely different of course. Additionally, you can choose to use nut flour right away instead of whole nuts.
Cacao Powder - There are so many kinds of chocolate powder, so use your favorite! We used 100% dark cacao powder.
Sugar & Maple Syrup - Adjust for desired taste. For the sugar, you can use brown, cane, coconut palm sugar, etc., but we used simple cane sugar.
Plant-based Milk - Choose whichever one you want!
Ingredients
Easy - 9x13in baking tray - 1 hour 10 minutes
2 ½ cups Flour
½ cups Sugar
½ cups Hazelnuts, ground
⅓ cup Cocoa powder
¾ cup Margarine
½ cup Plant-based Milk
¼ cup Maple syrup
4-6 Apples
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350℉.
First, peel the apples and cut them into thin pieces.
Now, grind the hazelnuts in a blender into a flour-like consistency, or just use hazelnut meal.
In a bowl, whisk together all dry ingredients.
Then, either in a separate bowl or right on top of the dry ingredients, add all the wet ingredients. Knead the dough until smooth and combined, just like cookie dough.
Prepare your baking pan by greasing it with margarine.
Cut the dough into two equal pieces. Roll out one of the halves flat, slightly larger than the size of the baking sheet and about ½ inch thick. Carefully transfer to the baking sheet, gently pressing the dough down and a little up the sides.
Now, pour all the apple pieces on top of it.
Then, take the other half of the dough, roll it out to the same measurements and carefully cover the apples with it.
Bake for about 40 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
